Medicaid Works: Expansion Four Years Later

Next week, the Ohio Department of Medicaid will be releasing its second Group VIII Assessment. You're invited to a briefing with Medicaid Director Barbara Sears and Office and Budget Management Director Tim Keen on the benefits of Medicaid expansion and the affordability of the program.

The Ohio Department of Medicaid will be releasing its second Group VIII Assessment report highlighting key findings from an examination on Group VIII, otherwise known as the Medicaid expansion population in Ohio. This population covers more than 710,000 low-income childless adults; a significant number of whom suffer from mental illness, drug addiction and chronic illnesses.

Advocates for Ohio’s Future has been a strong supporter of expanding Medicaid coverage to this population. We’re confident the upcoming report will provide more details on how successful the Medicaid expansion had been in allowing people to receive the care and treatment they need in order to be well enough to participate in their families, communities, and the workforce.

The Department of Medicaid is hosting several events next week to share their report with the public.

We encourage you to attend and share your support for the expansion of Medicaid coverage.
