Oral health continues to be the number one unmet health care need for children and adults in Ohio. 1.15 million Ohioans live in one of Ohio’s 84 areas where there is a lack of dental professionals. For some, this means missing school or work. For others, it means life-threatening medical emergencies due to dental infections and resulting complications.
The good news is efforts to expand access to dental care are paying off. Across the country, momentum is building around solutions to the address the oral health care crisis. In Ohio, legislation to authorize dental therapists and dental hygienist therapists was introduced in last year (Senate Bill 330) and will be reintroduced soon.
Dental Access Now’s Day at the Statehouse is an opportunity to use your voice to make Dental Therapists a reality in 2017 by informing lawmakers about a proven solution to the dental provider shortage.
Attendees can register to attend the full day (8 AM-4 PM) or the morning (8 AM-12 PM) or afternoon (12 PM -4 PM) session.
